While we love the convenience and ease of online shopping, we’re not a fan of excessive packaging and waste so we’ve thought of (and are constantly re-thinking) ways to reduce our carbon footprint.
At A Common Space, we package each order with only the essentials in mind – to make sure you receive your item safely and undamaged, and that that you feel good receiving it (I mean, who doesn’t love cute packaging?). But we also have Mother Nature on our mind.
All our mailers are made from 88% recycled content (we’re hoping to reach 100% very soon), are fully recyclable, made from post-consumer and post-industrial materials, and all made in the USA.
All our packaging bags are made from 100% recycled content, are recyclable and made in the USA. Our packaging tape is 100% plant derived, renewable and naturally biodegradable so there’s no nasty chemicals filling up the landfills.
All our hang tags and printed materials are all printed locally right here in California with soy and vegetable-based ink (much less harmful to the Earth than their petroleum-based counterpart) and on 100% recycled paper that’s made in the USA.
So while the cost is higher than regular packaging, it reduces the toll on the environment and to us, that’s totally worth it.
We’re proud to partner with OnTrac and USPS for our shipping needs. OnTrac works in collaboration with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to lower their carbon footprint by regulating and reducing emissions and improving fuel efficiencies. USPS operates with a mix of alternative-fuel vehicles in their fleet, offers recyclable packaging that meets Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) or Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification standards.
