Want to get ahead of the crowd without spending too much money? The simplest way to make a difference to your look is by updating your nails. Read on to discover this season’s must-try nail trends.
The Shape: Short and Rounded
Gone are the days of razor edged long talons; it’s all about keeping the shape of your nails more natural this season. That means it’s time to embrace the nails that you were born with, and file away those rectangular shapes that you had got used to. Rounded nails don’t just look chic, they’re less likely to snag on precious fabrics and are more resilient to breakages!
The Art: Think Geometric
Whether you opt for crescents, swirls or stripes, nail art is getting geometric. Stick to two colours for a more minimal look, go crazy with every colour in your collection, or embrace negative space and simply paint a subtle shape onto your natural bare nails.
The Colour: Back to Basics
From neutral clay to dark and moody black, to contemporary white and metallic grey, bright and bold colours seem to be in decline and it’s our favorite basic hues that we are welcoming back. Fitting in perfectly with the new minimal and easy-to-wear shape, these classic colours will suit everyone and work just as well for everyday wear as for evening occasions. It’s all about subtly, and not being flashy.
The Aesthetic: Minimal
In fact, minimal is the essential word when it comes to nails this season. If you don’t fancy a simple coat of plain polish, try painting a simple dot or one thin line in the centre of each nail. We’re also seeing a resurgence of the alternate French Manicure, with au natural nails and dark strips across the tips.
The Finish: Matte
Stray away from shiny, and veer towards a dull matte finish if you really want to stay on trend. Keep things simple and modern with a striking dark grey or black matte polish, overlaid with subtle tonal patterns that are barely noticeable.
