1. Kiwi Margarita

5 must try margarita recipes for cinco de mayo - kiwi margarita recipe

2 ounces Grand Marnier
1 1/2 ounces Tequila (I prefer silver)
2 ounces lime juice
2 1/2 ounces kiwi simple syrup [recipe below]
lime + fresh kiwi or kiwi berries for garnish
coarse salt for the rim

kiwi simple syrup
4 kiwi fruit, peeled
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water

Rim the ridge of your glass with a lime wedge and dip in a mix of coarse salt. Fill the glass with ice - I am really into crushed ice at the moment. In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, grand marnier, kiwi simple syrup and lime juice with ice, and shake for about 30 seconds. Pour over ice and squeeze in lime slices and add a few kiwi berries or kiwi chunks.

berry-blood-orange-margarita23. Very Berry Bloody Orange Margarita

¼ cup Kosher salt
¼ cup Sugar
10-12 raspberries, fresh or frozen
6 fresh strawberries
2-3 oz agave nectar
2 ounces orange liqueur
2 ounces fresh lime juice
3 ounces blood orange juice (2-3 oranges)
3 ounces tequila, preferably Reposado
salt for the rim, lime/orange wedges for garnish

Combine equal parts of salt and sugar and spread on a saucer. Rub the rim of each glass with a lime wedge and then dip the edge into the salt/sugar combination.
Put the raspberries and strawberries into a cocktail shaker with a Tbsp of agave nectar and using a muddler or the back of a large spoon, smash the berries and mix well.
Add the remaining agave nectar with the orange liqueur, lime juice, blood orange juice and tequila in the cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and shake for approximately 30 second until ice cold.
Strain the liquid through a mesh strainer to remove the solids.
Fill the rimmed glasses with ice and pour mixture into the glasses. Garnish with an orange slice, lime section and strawberry.

Spicy-Cucumber-Margaritas4. Spicy Cucumber Margarita
4 ounces tequila
2 ounces fresh lime juice
1 ounce agave syrup (use more/less to taste)
1 ounce fresh orange juice
1 cucumber, sliced into thick coins
1 small jalapeno, thinly sliced
optional garnishes: extra thinly-sliced cucumber rounds, extra jalapeno slices, and/or lime wedges

Sweet Chili Rim Salt Ingredients:

1 tablespoon chili powder
1 tablespoon (coarse) kosher salt
1 tablespoon sugar (I used turbinado)

Add tequila, lime juice, agave, orange juice, and cucumber to a blender.  Pulse for 1 minute, or until the mixture is smooth.  Strain out the liquid into a cocktail shaker.  Add the jalapeno slices, and muddle until the margarita has your desired level of heat.  (Note that the longer the jalapenos sit in the mixture, the more they will release their flavor, so heads up!)  Add a handful of ice, and shake the mixture vigorously for a few seconds so that it is chilled.  Then immediately strain it into serving glasses that have been rimmed with salt, filled with ice, and topped with optional garnishes.
